WWE No Way Out: A Geek's Predictions
February 15th 2009 22:22
WWE No Way Out represents the final Pay Per View stop before the grandaddy of them all...Wrestlemania 25 in Houston. Starting last year, the WWE has reserved No Way Out as the one event to feature the destructive entity known as the elimination chamber...there is no real way to describe the chamber so I have provided a picture below
Needless to say, it is 2 miles of chain that surrounds a giant domed cage, complete with four Plexiglas chambers for WWE superstars to enter at five minute intervals.
Ladies and Gentlemen...Welcome to Flavor Country.
However, there are also several intriguing singles matches to go along with the two chamber matches. So without further ado...lets get down to the predictions.
ECW Championship Match
Jack Swagger (C) vs Finlay: ECW unleashed the surprise of the week when it featured the return of Christian after his successful stint in TNA. I fully expect Christian to be involved in this match...but I predict that Swagger walks out with the strap.
JBL vs Shawn Michaels: The stipulation of this match is that HBK will be free of being "JBL's Employee." This storyline was an attempt for WWE to incorporate the economy as well as elements of The Wrestler into their program. It has been fun to watch, primarily because they are both such great talkers. However, this storyline has run its course and it is time for HBK to move on to a better storyline for Wrestlemania. I fully expect Michaels to win and end the storyline.
No Holds Barred
Randy Orton vs Shane McMahon: This match will probably be much better than expected. Randy Orton is the hottest wrestler in the world right now, and I fully expect him to get the win in this match. However, even though Shane McMahon doesn't step into the ring often, it is usually fun for fans because he is so fearless. I would be disappointed if there were not some huge spots in this match. When the dust settles, Orton gets the win and heads to the World Title Match at Wrestlemania.
Now, on to the main event...2 Elimination Chambers!!!
Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Title
John Cena (C) vs Rey Mysterio vs Mike Knox vs Kane vs Kofi Kingston vs Chris Jericho:
Lets look at the competitors in this match. The first question is...Why are Kofi Kingston and Mike Knox in this match? Well there are some very simple answers to those questions. Kofi Kingston is an amazing athlete who has the potential to execute some tremendous spots in the match. Mike Knox is a big strong guy who can use the chamber as a weapon.
Now The same goes for both Kane and Rey Mysterio...however, they also bring a level of credibility to the match. They are both former World Champions and create the possibility of a title change. Also, they will both provide some amazing spots.
Chris Jericho is in this match because he provides the greatest possible chance of a title change. Jericho is unbelievable in the ring and is an awesome heel. He is the anti John Cena and he may score an upset...just so the WWE makes sure he has something to do at Wrestlemania.
However, I fully expect John Cena to walk out of the chamber bloody, bruised, and battered...but also holding the World Heavyweight Title high above his head as he makes his was to a date with Randy Orton in Reliant Stadium at Wrestlemania.
Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship:
Edge (C) vs Vladamir Kozlov vs Big Show vs The Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy vs Triple H:
Out of all the Elimination Chamber Matches in WWE History...there has never been one that has been more stacked with former World Champions as has this one. Combined, there are 31 World Title reigns among the six competitors. This Chamber will be something to behold and I can't wait for it.
For starters, Kozlov and Big Show have absolutely no chance. Neither one of them has the star power of the other participants in this match. Jeff Hardy is poised for a meeting with his brother at Wrestlemania so he is probably out.
As far as The Undertaker goes...the wrestling rumor blogosphere has gone crazy with the idea that Taker and Shawn Michaels may have one last dance at Wrestlemania 25. I hope that those rumors are true, seeing as how I will be in attendance in Houston. Due to the rumors of WM XXV, I say that Taker is out.
That leaves HHH and Edge. I keep expecting a Christian situation to play involving Edge. However, that is appearing more and more unlikely as he is now on the ECW brand. Another Wrestlemania rumor is that HHH and Edge will square off for the WWE title. So right now, it is anyone's guess who will win the chamber. However, my gut says that The Rated R Superstar Edge finds a way to escape the chamber with a win.
Those are my picks for WWE No Way Out. I will be glued to my television watching the brutality that may result.
Until Next Time,
Enjoy The Show
